What is the difference between Chondrogen and ChondroPlus?
This question arose a few times during the fair in Gothenburg earlier this year and now we will clarify this for you.
Actually, the difference is not great when it comes to the basic composition. There is only one ingredient that differs.
Both products contain:
- High molecular hyaluronic acid
- Glucosamine sulfate
- Chondroitin sulfate
- Manganese
That's where it stops in Chondrogen 100pro. In ChondroPlus, on the other hand, you will find all these ingredients but also Boswellia serrata. Otherwise, both products are in powder form, flavored with molasses and a supplement that nourishes both the synovial fluid and the joint cartilage.
When we recommend Chondrogen 100pro to horses in work and competition, we would also like you to add Conquest Every Day (formerly Conquer 200pro) to achieve an optimal level of hyaluronic acid. Supplements in powder form do not have quite as much hyaluronic acid as is considered optimal during hard exercise. Therefore, we advocate that you "fill up" with Conquest Every Day during those days.
Boswellia Serrata enhances the effect of hyaluronic acid by preventing its breakdown. Because the hyaluronic acid remains longer in the joint, it means that ChondroPlus does not require extra doses of supplements to have sufficient effect even with higher effort. The supplement itself covers all the joint's needs and is effective enough on its own.
Why should I choose Chondrogen 100pro over ChondroPlus?
The only thing you have to keep in mind with ChondroPlus is that it has a 96h competition qualification in Sweden and Norway (not FEI). This means that it can feel easier to choose Chondrogen 100pro to avoid thinking about waiting periods and number of days. If you compete in Sweden or Norway, our best recommendation is to give ChondroPlus between competitions and then switch to Chondrogen 100pro or Conquest Every Day four days before and over the competition days. Here, for example, is our Chondrogen sample bag, containing 20 doses, very convenient to have at home if you want a smaller package and not buy a whole jar. You can find the Chondrogen sample bag HERE.
To sum up the question, the difference is really only Boswellia Serratan and the withdrawal period. If you feel unsure about which product to choose for your horse or have more questions, do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone: kontakt@friskaleder.com ; Phone: +46 (0) 431 120 00
