Side effects of hyaluronic acid as a dietary supplement

Currently, there are no studies that show any known side effects of hyaluronic acid as a dietary supplement, either in horses, dogs or humans. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body where it has several functions. It acts as a lubricant on the joint and has a high viscosity, which thus acts as a shock absorber under load. Hyaluronic acid also has the task of contributing to the transport of nutrients to the cartilage and transporting waste products from there.

Note that we are only commenting on the oral intake of hyaluronic acid in this article. We have thus not taken possible side effects of injections, such as cock comb injections or cosmetic beauty treatments into consideration.

Hyaluronic acid as a dietary supplement for horses, dogs and humans

Horses that are heavier and thus exposed to higher loads often feel good from being supplemented with hyaluronic acid from a relatively young age. Arthritis is the absolute most common cause of lameness in horses. As many as 10 horses per day are euthanized because of it.

Since hyaluronic acid can be given daily over a long period of time without side effects, it is a suitable supplement in the animals' daily diet. This also applies to dogs of the heavier breeds, especially as they get older.

We humans notice the reduced presence of hyaluronic acid as we get older. We become stiffer in the body and drier in the skin. By eating hyaluronic acid supplements daily, we can prevent the feeling of dry and irritated skin and instead enjoy a resilient, smooth and elastic skin.

For horse
Conquer 200Pro contains high molecular hyaluronic acid (200 mg per dose). It is a supplementary feed for training, competing and older horses with the aim of promoting optimal joint function. Conquer's effect is clinically documented.

Too human
Ha-Go Start contains high-molecular hyaluronic acid together with several other ingredients that contribute to a normal bone structure, cartilage and skin.
